Cablegate: All 250,000 Cables Leaked to Paper. Get the Truth now

The Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten has obtained the entire cache of more than 250,000 cables -- without limitations. So far, it seems it is the only media outlet in the World to do so.

The daily Dagens Næringsliv reports that the cables have been leaked to Aftenposten without WikiLeaks’/Assange’s approval.

Thus, Aftenposten is not bound by the agreement that covers publication by The Guardian, Le Monde, El Pais, the New York Times and Der Spiegel. Those papers have signed a confidentiality agreement, under which they may only publicize cables when WikiLeaks has explicitly agreed to the publication. Also, the said newspapers have apparently selected the cables that are published by WikiLeaks.:

The five newspapers that had obtained an advance copy of all leaked cables began releasing the cables on 28 November 2010, and Wikileaks made the cables selected by these newspapers and redacted by their journalists available on its website. "They are releasing the documents we selected," Le Monde's managing editor, Sylvie Kauffmann, said in an interview.[37]

Aftenposten confirms that they have obtained the documents, but will not comment on how.

Says Aftenposten's news editor Ole Erik Almlid: "I have no comment as to how we obtained the cables. We never reveal our sources. This case is no exception."

This means that the cables will be released sooner than expected.

Aftenposten now writes:

[...]Aftenposten has obtained unlimited access to all of the 250,000 documents from the latest leaks.

During the next few days [edit: should be "days, weeks and months," sorry] we will go through the huge amount of documents and publish news stories on the net and in our print edition.

In order to make this process more efficient, we would like tips from our readers.

Take advantage of this opportunity. Help get the truth out.

Update: Several commenters are concerned about an indiscriminate mass disclosure. For clarification, I'm posting one of my comments here:

Aftenposten is Norway's oldest, most conservative and most authoritative daily newspaper. They're called "The Gray Aunt" of Akersgata, which is Oslo's "newspaper street."  There's no chance that they are going to release anything without a careful editorial process. Which is why it will take a long time to get everything out. Which, again, is why this is such a great opportunity to e-mail them with tips about what to search for.

(That being said, being "conservative" in Norway still means that you're far more "liberal" than most elected Democrats in the US - on most subjects, except perhaps pot.)
